DASHA MAZURKA is Polish born dance artist based in Katowice. She studied contemporary dance at SNDO in Amsterdam in the mid of 80ies, had success in Holland during late 80ies and beginning of 90ies. Later she lived and worked in Berlin (Germany) and Poznan (Poland). Since year 1996 she has been withdrawn from the scene. Doubt in Frame/Queen of Sweden Killed Descartes is her comeback after 15 years of silence. Reconstructions of some parts of her earlier works will be presented as a part of this new creation.
For the creation "Doubt in Frame / Queen of Sweden Killed Descartes" Dasha mazurka is collaborating with four Finland-based dance-artists and a media-artist:
VELI LEHTOVAARA works as a choreographer and performer in the field of dance and theater. He was graduated from P.A.R.T.S. Research Cycle in 2010 and MA -program of choreography in the Theater Academy of Helsinki 2011. The focus of his work lies between the poetics of dance and the politics of theater. There is always a strong intention towards communication and shared meaning in his work. During the years 2011-13 he receives support from the Zodiak -Center for New Dance (Helsinki) as a choreographer in residence.
MIKKO HYVÖNEN graduated from P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels in 2010. After that he has been performing Trash Talk with Salka Ardal Rosengren and working with new projects with Saara Töyrylä and Veli Lehtovaara. Mikko is working as a freelance dancer-choreographer and would like to stay open to search for new approaches and angles in dance making.
JUKKA HUITILA Master of Arts, is a visual designer working mainly in the field of performing arts. Huitila has conceived visualizations for jazz bands, music and dance festivals, performing arts, galleries and other spaces. Performing has been a part of his work since 2005, his artistic ideology has been influenced by his interest towards Live Art and performance art. Huitila works internationally and is frequently visiting as guest designer in various festivals and works for new productions as well.
MARIA SAIVOSALMI has gratuated from MA –program of Dance in the Theatre Academy of Helsinki. Since 2004 she has been working as a dancer in Helsinki Dance Company with several choreographers, Nigel Charnock, Kenneth Kvarnström etc. Collaboration with Lithuanian dance artits Andrius Katinas has been active for ten years. Their pieces has been performed in several countries around Europe.
ANDRIUS KATINAS is Lithuanian dance artist based in Finland. He studied theatre arts and dance in Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre as well Theatre Academy of Finland. His active work as performer and choreographer started in 1999.
