Emmi Väisänen is a contemporary dance artist currently based in Brussels,Belgium. She was born and grew in Finland. At the age of 17 she started her daily training in Kuopio Music Highschool dance department. Since then she graduated from Turku Conservatory with a Dance Degree in 2012 and worked with Finnish choreographers Alpo Aaltokoski, Susanna Leinonen and Johanna Nuutinen. In 2013 Emmi entered S.E.A.D (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance ) to the 4th year and continued the following year to the Bodhi Project Company year. After graduating she has worked in Austria in the works of Etienne Guilloteau, Willi Dorner and she is collaborating with Salzburg based choreographer Julia Schwarzbach. After moving to Brussels, Emmi has been a performer in the works of Alexandra Waierstall, Claire Croizé, Gilles Polet, Kinga Jaczewska and Rakesh Sukesh. At the moment, in addition of creating a solo of her own, she is working as a dancer in the new work of Claire Croizé and Etienne Guilloteau with five singers and five dancers premiering end of September 2017 in Brugge.
