Lies Serdons studied Dramatic Expression at the word-music and arts academy in Hasselt. She has a diploma of video, which she achieved at Phiko. Her dance career started as a performer with Theatre Tol, meanwhile she studied the art of Grotowski, Lecoq, Decroux in Anwterp. Finally, she travelled around in Europe and Japan to develop her style in a Butoh form. Working with Tadashi Endo, Yoshito Ohno, Natsu Nakajima, Dairakudakan and many more. Since 2005 she started making her own performances, minimalistic solos or in collaboration with national or international dancers, musicians, video-artists.
Every performance is a physical and mental exploration of the dancer’s body and the audience’s brain. That is how ‘Dance of Memories’ (2010), ‘S.he’ (2011), Impact (2012), Pomme de Taire (2013), The Woods (2014) and Vase (2016) came to live. She uses the deep focus and power of space around the movement, coming from Butoh philosophy, and mixes this mental state with contemporary and classical dance choreography. In 2010 she made the choreography for the Alternative Hairshow at the Kremlin theatre in Moscow. Later on she collaborated with Peeping Tom artistic director Franck Chartier to create 'En Haute a Gauche', which went in première at Theatre National. In 2013 her outdoor festival Performa held their first edition giving young and established performance artist the chance to work together. Apart from her dance carrier she is currently cultural programmer of the world famous Jeneverfeesten and is the business coordinator of Vonk atelierwerking
