Lise Vachon was born in Canada and studied dance in Montreal and Toronto. She moved to Belgium in 1997 to attend PARTS and graduated in 2000. She then worked with different choreographers in Belgium. Among them she has worked with Arco Renz as a dancer in Think Me Thickness, Mirth, Dreamlands
and Opium. She assisted him for the creation of States, and for Act one.
Between 2005 and 2006 she was rehearsal director for Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s company, Rosas, on the productions of Desh, Raga for a Rainy Season / A Love Supreme and D’un soir un jour.
She has assisted different choreographers in opera staging at La Monnaie/de Munt in Brussels, L’Opéra de Paris and at La Scala in Milan.
Since 2006, she has worked with Michèle Noiret as a dancer in Chambre blanche, Les Arpenteurs and Minutes Opportunes, and as assistant for DEMAIN.
In parallel, she has choreographed three dances for the public event “Bal moderne” for which she teaches regularly. She is also developing her personal approach to teaching contemporary dance through giving classes and workshops in Belgium, France and Canada.
In 2008, she created her own solo entitled bliss, which she performed in New York, London, Brugge, Brussels, and Montreal. Her next creation entitled Sliding is a duet she will dance with Dominique Godderis. It is will premiere in Brussels in Festival Danse BalsaMarni, in June 2011. An excerpt of Sliding will be shown as a work in progress in the Working title Platform, in Les Brigittines on Decembre 18th and 19th, 2010.
