Neri De Meester has studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (2010-2013). In the summer of 2014, she attended The Living Light Culinary Institute and got certified as a raw food chef. In the mean time she is taking courses in intimate apparel.
The human body, with its forms and deformations, has always been a big source of inspiration for her work, in which she explores new materials and incorporates kitchen techniques.
Lotte Van Huyck graduated as a textile designer at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent in 2014. Her master project 'Don't play with your food' created a link between food and textiles. By comparing the similarities in both, she searched how they can be transformed into a new product. This way, Lotte looks at textiles in a different way and she probes the boundaries of her own discipline.
Neri invited Lotte to start a project in search of how food can get a new function in textiles. In this project, they are studying the properties of food (waste) and comparing them to existing materials and fibers. Their search for a new textile is mainly experimental in this stage, wherein they use coffee grounds to create different 'woven and non-woven' structures.
