Marcos Simoes (Portugal, 1975) lives in Brussels. He studied civil engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. He attended the intensive course of SNDO and the contemporary dance program at the University Miguel Hernandez in Altea, Spain. He completed the post-master a.p.t/A.pass in Performing Arts in Antwerp where he presented several works around his concept: The LaughingBody and a publication with the same name.
The performance ‘Laughingame’ was presented at apt/apass (deSingel, Antwerp), in Amperdans4, Monty (Antwerp) and in the festival BruxellesBravo as one of the artist that represented LesBainsConnective.
He created ‘Eskimo’ in 2010, a piece of 6 performers, presented in Monty and Working Title Platform (WorkSpace Brussels), together with his sound/instalation ‘Totem, a place of contradictions’.
He is Currently working as an interpreter for Sara Manente in ‘FOUR/fur’, and in two different Collaboration projects, one with the Portuguese choreographic artist Lilia Mestre and the other with the visual artist Marcelo Mardones.
He’s one of the founding members of the association EVE vzw.
