Time is the only true commodity.
Take a second to think of the things that are important to you. If you are not spending time on those...then what are you doing?
We live in a time where everything should be done efficient and fast: travelling, communication, eating and so on.
But for what are we saving the time for? What do we consider is important and valuable in our lives? We should be measuring our lives more with time than money. We are thinking if we get this or that amount of money a year doing our job, is it worth it? Whereas we should be thinking if the job is worth spending that year from our lives.
I find these questions very important and relevant for all of us and that is why I want to create a contemporary dance performance about time. What represents time in my life very visibly is the correspondance that I have been sending with my mother for the past eleven years. And this comes a big suprise for anyone who gets to know this. Writing letters takes time, patience and effort. All the things we are lacking these days. Our letters triggered these question in my head and they are starting point for my research.
