THE ANGRY GIRL
AN VERSTRAETE
Last updated : 12/06/2011PRINT THIS PAGEOutline
In The Angry Girl a performer seated at a table tells the audience the stories of The Angry Girl and The Lady-in-black-girl while browsing a book with handmade collages. The book and hands of the performer are recorded live in top-shot and shown on a screen. The live images of the manipulations of the book build up a compelling relationship with the illustrated story.
The language in the performance is the English of a foreigner trying to make use of this 'worldwide' language in a poetical way. It blends in with the road-movie atmosphere that pervades both of the stories.
The performer's speech, the collages and the simple but thought-out scenography only serve one goal: to drag public into the sometimes surrealistic then hyper-real world of the characters.
