Dandan Liu
Bio
Dandan Liu, born in Beijing in 1989, is a freelance dramaturge, member of the Berlin Ringtheater Kollektiv since 2019, and curator at the Freie Werkstatt Theater Cologne since 2023. Her work, shaped by transcultural perspectives and critical analysis, focuses on performance and dance theatre. Currently, she explores multi-perspective and multimedia narrative strategies to address globalisation and contemporary East Asian history, often using biographical, documentary, and digital materials in dialogue with political discourse.
As dramaturgical support for Asian Performing Artist Lab (2020–2024) and Tanztage Berlin (2023/24), she contributes to the long-term development of emerging artists and devises empowering methods oriented towards intercultural and collaborative processes. Previous productions she has worked on as a dramaturge have been presented at Hebbel am Ufer, Pact Zollverein Essen, Theaterhaus G7 Mannheim, Esplanade Singapore, and the Prague Quadrennial 2019 among others.
