Anneleen Steenbergen (Belgium, 1990) is a visual artist who explores the possibilities and limits of the everyday moving body. Her interest lies in unfolding the inner body in relation to external structures. In her practice she intertwines a viewing regime and a creative process, in order to intensify the complex role of awareness, attentiveness and perception. In 2017 she started her research project The Counterpoint of a Movement in Excess the first part of which has premiered in 2019. She is currently developing the second part, in which the somatic structures according to the act of waiting are being questioned. Her practice is hybrid, bringing together writing, performance and audiovisual installations.
