Bio

Bruno Freire is a father and choreographic artist from São Paulo, currently living in Brussels, who persists and insists on being in search of the marvellous. Lately he has been writing with movement and light, choreo/photo/graphy. From 2004 to 2009 he studied dance and performance at PUC-SP, then, in 2012, obtained a master's degree in Communication and Semiotics at the same university at São Paulo. One year later, he moved to France where he completed a professional master's degree in choreographic studies at ex.e.r.ce in Montpellier in 2015. His academic thesis became a performative monograph In search of the marvellous. It was presented at Par-ICI-CCN and premiered at Festival Parallèle (2018).

Bruno is interested in developing forms of writing that can activate performative and poetic experiences. In recent years he has been dancing with/for choreographers such as Mette Ingvartsen, Radouan Mzriga and Cristian Duarte. He has also collaborated with Calixto Neto, Manon Santkin, Sheila Ribeiro, Cristian Duarte and Thelma Bonavita, and Wagner Schwartz, among others.
