Shaly Lopez
Bio
Shaly López is a scenographer and lighting designer based in Berlin. He graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with a master's degree in Directing for Devised and Object Theater. His work explores the possibilities of staging non-physical dimensions of space, such as those found in meditative states, dreams, and hallucinations. Through sound, lighting, and scent design, he investigates the potential of staging at the threshold of perception, creating subtle atmospheric compositions that challenge the visual hierarchy of experience.
As a lighting designer, Shaly's work has been showcased at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, ICA London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, KunstHalle Bern, Pact Zollverein, and the Montpellier Danse Festival. His work as an installation artist has been featured at the Homo Novus Festival in Riga, Beyond the Black Box Festival in Amsterdam, the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Space, HAU, SAVVY Contemporary, and HKW in Berlin. He has been an artist-in-residence at wpZimmer in Antwerp, workspacebrussels, and Trust in Berlin. Currently, he is the resident lighting designer at TRAUMA BAR UND KINO in Berlin.
