Bio

Tinneke De Meyer (BE) is a writer (Eng/Dutch) and maker with an MA in Literature. From her background as a writer, she is interested in the intimacy and proximity of audio and spoken word.

Her writing has associative structures, and walks the line between poetry, memoir and short story. Her associations connect the poetic and the everyday, what we see and what we miss, facts and observations, ancient stories and popular science, melancholy and humor.

They make audio stories (as collected on The House Was Alright, 2020, a collaboration with Duncan Speakman) in which a voice is looking to be heard, in a dialogue with and moved by sound and music. Exploring the space where a (heard) story exists, between language and audio, and how we relate to and are present in our environment, are recurring themes.

She also wrote texts that play between book and audio (Six Conversations, 2016) and for performative sound pieces looking for connection and subtile interaction with and amongst listeners (like in Conversation 7, 2017). Both of those pieces were made in collaboration with Duncan Speakman, longtime partner in sound and thinking.
