19 x Bxl

Beyond the statistics that are supposed to reveal the diversity of Brussels, t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e. questions what is hidden behind the figures and their representations. Through a linguistic and choreographic prism, 19 x Bxl attempts to decipher the complex and almost elusive interweaving of dominant and minority languages.

Claimed to be a documentary process, 19 x Bxl is built up over the course of 19 encounters and testimonies: a journey anchored in reality that explores the links between intimacy, self-assertion in social space, and the polymorphism of these expressions. Sufi dance, Slovakian language, voguing and the cult of crossfit intersect in this kaleidoscopic documentary proposal.

19 x Bxl deconstructs the traditional approach of a show by proposing a decompartmentalized approach, where a performance, an installation, a projection, a text or a sound podcast cohabit. Physically inserted in a building, a theatre or a place imagined for the occasion, 19 multidisciplinary capsules highlight these human trajectories of Brussels.
