Dehors est blanc

For this new research, at the crossroads between aerial arts, choreography and sound-visual installation, Angela Rabaglio and Micaël Florentz wish to explore the definition of balance and territory.

The human being is an assembly of forces in equilibrium; a mosaic of articulated segments, which continually resists to falling. Based on an artistic desire to comprehend movement and space differently, this project will allow Rabaglio and Florentz to bring in dialogue different disciplines, while re-questioning their own practice and deepen their awareness.

To do this, they would like to experience the state of the body in the void, suspended in the air and autonomously counterbalanced. The context of this subtle and fragile dialogue between the body and its own weight, will give the duo the opportunity to grasp the movement in a singular way, detached from the contact with the ground; a new territory of possibilities.

The title of the work, Dehors est blanc, is a reference to an optical phenomenon happening in extreme weather conditions: le blanc dehors or whiteout in English. Wrapped in a featureless white glow, the observer can no longer discern the horizon and loses the sense of depth and orientation.
