Retour Amont

A soft and slow wrestle with fear and uncertainty. A resistance to violence. A curiosity about the other. A physical dialogue with the unknown, which is the only possibility we have left.

The idea for this piece originated this spring during the lockdown. As a consequence of the pandemic, Claire Croizé and Etienne Guilloteau had to reschedule the premiere of a new piece, Le Rêve d’Io. At the same time, it seemed essential to keep finding meaningful ways to connect with their audience.

Etienne and Claire haven’t been on stage for more than five years. To perform again after years behind the scenes is highly symbolic for them in these times, not just because of the months of forced isolation. Retour Amont is a reflection on the past months, on their past work, on what is essential, and on possible futures. They want to create a dialogue about what it is to be together.
