bish az pish is a sonic-performance group founded and transformed by Tehran based performer Masoumeh Jalalieh and Vienna based Composer Stefan Fraunberger.
Is it the sleeping body of sound or is it the present noise of the body?
The performance is dealing with metaphors around dreams and somehow impossible aspects of what one might call imaginational aspects of limits as differences. The performative structure pictures through these invisible lines themes like fragmentation of global modernity in the context of cultural sleep and the coded noise of language indwelling the remaining dream of the body. The performance deals with the acoustic and architectural space of the venue in a unique way.
Barzakh is a term used within Islam as the intermediary realm. It is a situation that is a limiting as well as a form-giving (non-) space. Any kind of sensual perception would be an impossible and isolated solipsism in case it would be lacking this intermediary realm. Therefor the work Bish-Az-Pish has a subtext that circulates in irregular movements around the body and its forms of perception, consonants, vowels, intervals; Barzakh as a separating and uniting interval that describes 'The One over the Many'.
