NEVER WALK ALONE #4: FOCUS FRANCE

On April 21st, CC Strombeek and workspacebrussels organize the fourth edition of Never Walk Alone, a series of travel stories in dance and visual arts. Steven Michel and Théo Mercier juggle with Ikea furniture in the pre-première of Affordable solution for better living, and visual artist Ariane Loze presents her short film Impotence, which questions our sense of self in over-informed times.

Could the feeling of vertigo be the symptom of our disoriented age? Articulated around the vertigo-chasm and vertigo-vacuity, the film of Ariane Loze tries, sometimes desperately, to reconstruct sense there where it had been abandoned. Through words, four characters explore the paradoxical feeling of asymmetry between action and will, between morality and empathy, between dream and reality.

Affordable Solution for Better Living
dance / 80 min.
This playful dance performance takes the body as an Ikea kit, and the assembly instructions as dance notation. The dancer and the furniture kit are both exposed to the same industrial constraints: profitability, durability, and response to demand. Affordable Solution for Better Living thus examines the issues of standardized bodies, fixed paths, and the illusions of freedom disseminated by corporate powers.
