Bio

Architect and visual artist Filip Berte (1976, Belgium) became known for his long-term project Eutopia, in which he screened Europe as a political entity by shaping it into a house in which every room reflected a different facet of the continent. The margin, migration and the concept of the border are some of the main themes characterizing his work. In 2011, Filip Berte won the East Flanders’ Visual Arts Prize for his multidisciplinary body of work. With his current projects Un-Home / Moving Stones and Camera Lucida Filip Berte continues his critical creative practice, focusing on the mechanism of inclusion and exclusion of uninvited newcomers in our western society.
