Format Screening: INGRID COGNE, RAFAL MORUSIEWICZ & REBECCA JANE ARTHURPRINT THIS PAGE
From the 16th to the 22nd October, Workspacebrussels welcomes the art-based research project Six Formats for a residency. The project, led by Ingrid Cogne and Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein, runs from 2015-2018 and is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF, PEEK, AR291-G21) and hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The project questions six particular formats used to communicate art-based related knowledge: publication, exhibition, symposium, lecture-performance, screening, and workshop. A general presentation on the project is available here: https://www.akbild.ac.at/resolveuid/9df7dfbe006af8e5eb6042fa4b401665
Spring 2017, Ingrid Cogne invited Rebecca Arthur and Rafal Morusiewicz to join the process dedicated to the format Screening. Each format is developed in dialogue with an institution or organisation. For Screening, Six Formats is conducting the research with Anouk De Clercq, who is set to open a cinema in Oostende called Monokino.
As Monokino is in its start-up stage as well as (currently) nomadic, the research group convenes in Brussels in October to work in person for the first time. The process is based on 1/ a series of meetings with local screening venues and programmers facilitated by Rebecca Arthur, 2/ the participation in the seminar Circulation (organized by Beursschouwburg in collaboration with Kunstenpunt and KASK), and 3/ working sessions aiming to filter the information gathered on the format Screening and articulate the dialogue between Six Formats and Monokino.
