Co[labo]rations is a project that stimulates cultural exchange between Belgium and Canada. 2 Belgian and 2 Quebec artists will work in pairs to create 2 new performances.
Pair N° 1 //
Gosie Vervloessem & Frances Adair McKenzie
In 2010, Gosie Vervloessem began working under the name Domestic Science Club, touring alone or with others and putting together lectures, performances, workshops, recipes and installations. She regularly experiments with the laws of physics for domestic purposes, which are in fact the basic recipe for all the presentations. Frances Adair Mckenzie, who lives in Montreal, is paired to Gosie in this co(labo)ration. Frances is a multi-media artist who combines genres and technologies as a means to invoke the construction of fantastical internal and external worlds. Her work in motion-design, animation and immersive installation evokes a din of concentrated effects that meld both high and low cultural references and technologies.
Pair N°2 //
Stéphanie Laforce & Léa Tremblay Fong
Multidisciplinary artist Stéphanie Laforce builds poetic sound machines for her electro-acoustic compositions with which she develops an original universe for interactive multimedia installations but also concerts, theater, exhibitions, and the circus. Stéphanie questions the place of humans in a mechanistic world by reclaiming places and materials. Working with Stéphanie is Léa Tremblay Fong, a choreographer and performer in contemporary dance and physical theatre. Since the winter of 2012, she continues her artistic work and develops interdisciplinary creative projects in public space, while interacting with people.
