Maya Dalinsky

Bio

Maya Dalinsky (1981, USA) is a dancer, multimedia artist, researcher and translator. Her current work is concerned with feedback, perception and embodiment. She explores formats for experiencing the "technological body", where dance and body-based practices interact with digital technologies on equal footing. She is curious about how our bodies and brains continuously integrate new technological features: What are the repercussions? What do we gain, what do we lose, as technology evolves to be in greater symbiosis with our senses? How do we transit from virtual to real, and how are we transformed in the process? More generally, she looks at co-presence and proprioception as materials that can be crafted into specific, uncanny experiences.

Maya Dalinsky has been based in Brussels since 2008. In 2017 she received her Master's in Art in Public Space from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels. She also holds a Bachelor's in Modern Languages from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD (USA).
