Sara Vilardo worked in Italy as an actress for different theatre companies. In 2009 she moved to Belgium, where she played as actress/performer for companies/artists such as Ensamble Leporello, Company Henry and co., United Planets, Michiel Soete, Lundahl&Seitl.
In 2010 she graduated in “APASS”, a Postgraduate Master in “APT – Advanced Performance Training” .
She started to work as a maker after the Master.For her end-presentation project in Apt (titled “Turning my living room into a theatre and myself into an actor, desperately seeking to have an audience”), she worked with four dancers concerning the alienation of the body and identity on internet .
She created, together with another Italian performer “Le mie parole sono uomini/My words, they are men”, and together with Nele Vereecken, a children piece, called “Alfred(d)o”
She is very interested in using theatre like the imaginative eye that speaks about the reality.In her work she uses the body as the main instrument of expression.
Soetkin Demey graduated from the Brussels Rits school of theatre as an actress. Though she has played several times in creations by Manah Depauw, she identifies herself mainly as a theatre maker.In her master year at the Rits she creates two solos exploring identity versus the body (coach was Bernard Van Eeghem), in order to ‘scientifically’ know oneself from inside to outside. What is it which makes me me? Is it these breasts or the way in which my breasts move while I am who I am? Did I get these breasts because I was ready for it or because my body was? Can the body be separated from the mind? Can I reach a point where all you see, is a neutral presence of a woman? What form, then, is neutral?
