TUUR VAN BALEN & REVITAL COHENPRINT THIS PAGE
Tuur Van Balen & Revital Cohen run a London based experimental practice that sits on the border between art and design. Since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2008 they have been exhibiting and lecturing internationally. Originally trained as designers, they produce conceptual one-of-a-kind pieces, photographs and videos that explore the political, ethical and aesthetic implications of technology.
Through critical objects and experimental interactions, they create thought-provoking new realities. Both the process of creating these objects, interventions and narratives as well as their resulting physical presence aim to confuse, question and confront different publics with the possible (and impossible) roles of technologies in our everyday lives.
Cohen & Van Balen have been exhibiting and presenting their work internationally at art, design and science-related events. Recent exhibitions and talks took place at the MoMa, Tate Britain, National Museum of China, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Z33 House for Contemporary Art, FACT, Dutch Electronic Arts Festival, Arts Catalyst amongst others. Awards include the Science Museum's Emerging Artist Commission, Wellcome Trust Arts Awards and an award of distinction at Prix Ars Electronica.
