Aap is a theater performance based on a text by Franz Kafka that investigates the relation between language, education and consciousness. In this text a monkey adresses an academy and gives insight in how he was able to liberate himself from the cage and how he became human. But aap is also a DIY theater piece, developed in a garage, generating a continuous friction between theatrical and performance elements. What is real and what is staged in a world where upper culture rules? A crash course in emancipation, in all the senses of the word!
