DON'T THINK ABOUT PURPLE DAISYPRINT THIS PAGE
Don’t think about a purple daisy is a research project investigating notions of choice, autonomy and freewill. What makes us say yes, what makes us say no. Through a series of scores and interventions with sound, visual and dance artists the research is routed in a practice of mapping and re-organization; examining and translating pattern using body, sound and objects.
The idea of choice, autonomy and freewill are questions that appeal Joanna Young from a scientific, philosophical and gender perspective. Over the past few years she has been developing work that investigates notions of both shared and infinite selves, transitory self-portraits that create immersive spaces, intrinsically linked to the places they are created in. Joanna works with improvisation and tuning exercises that explore inside and outside states, located in reality and fantasy, and the space in-between.
