ISOLATIONPRINT THIS PAGE
Ehsan Hemat is developing his own dance language within the theme 'isolation'. For his new project within this framework he works around intercultural exchange and censorship through body practices. The focus of his research is how dancers from the Western world and from the Middle East interpret and elaborate certain movement tasks regarding the freedom of expression within the specific atmosphere of the society they are living in.
By focussing on specific tasks he wants to generate movements and exchange methodologies in Teheran, Cairo and Brussels. Next he will organise a research workshop for 10 dancers/movers, and for the conceptualisation or starting point of this research around isolation, he will work with theater director Mokhallad Rasem. His project is supported by the Flemmisch government, Workspacebrussels, Toneelhuis, The Invisible Centre of Contemporary Dance-Teheran(ICCD) and the Centre of Contemporary Dance in Cairo (CCDC).
