L'OCEANPRINT THIS PAGE
Since a couple of years, Clara Guémas intervenes as an artist and choreographer in prisons. She questions the place of the body in these isolated spaces, and the restrained and controlled life in prison. In continuity of this research, she now works – together with teenagers and adolescents from ‘La Caserne du Petit Château’ – on her new project called L’océan.
Before their residency at workspacebrussels, Clara, Rachad, Youssouf, Shadai, Mazina, Ghasem and Marian worked at théâtre Marni and at Ultima Vez. During both residencies they questioned what it is to be an adult. By sharing their stories – specific realities experienced through their bodies – these teenagers and adolescents opened an unsuspected beauty; they expressed real poetry and simplicity. By (re)inventing themselves, they explored relations with others which led to visible physical gestures, in their movements and dynamics.
During their residency at workspacebrussels, their focus will be mainly on exploring society; people who encounter, construct links, and continue to unravel knots to open corporal, relational and cultural spaces between themselves.
