Vagrant is a project based on a character, a man living outside society, outside and sometimes outside reality. The piece will use different mediums to try and bring it's audience into the subjective viewpoint of this man, to provide a temporary insight into his experience.
This man finds a place of his own, a small corner of the planet which becomes his world, the longer he stays there, the further he falls into messianic madness. The border between the real world and his fantasy become increasingly blurred until the distinction is meaningless. Eventually the experience is the only reality.
The travelling tramp has long been a figure of interest in literature, film and theatre; a romanticised but tragic character often with a comic turn. Vagrant will draw on some of these characters as well as taking a personal viewpoint on it. Using a range of tools, such as dance, theatre music and illusion it hopes to be an intriguing and touching encounter with this timeless figure and with an original and bizarre personality and the world that he inhabits.
