PURE is a performative and immersive installation by Christian Bakalov. It is the second part of the ETERNIA trilogy, developed from Spinoza's concept of Eternity, which is closely linked to birth and death. Oscillating between visual arts and performance, PURE generates interactions between bodies and objects creating situations in which the public, performers and installations have an equal function, united in the same work of art.
CHRISTIAN BAKALOV studied ballet at the Opera of Sofia and started his dance career in France with the Ballet of France and the CCNN of Nantes. Since 2009 he has lived and worked in Brussels. He has been seen as a performer in the work of Ivo Dimchev, Jan Fabre, Miet Warlop and Jérôme Bel, among others. In 2014 he created his first immersive installation BRIGHT, in which the audience plays the most important role. In his work he explores the boundaries between installation and performative action and develops immersive methods that bring the audience into a parallel universe that stimulates and appeals to the senses.
