Blue is an Agreement
The title of this research emerged from a simple yet profound realisation: the perceived colour of the sky can be altered by changing the colour of the frame through which it is viewed.
This experience prompted Vinny Jones to reflect on how framing influences not only perception but also our ways of seeing and being in the world. She is investigating how light and sound—used as framing elements in everyday spaces—can heighten awareness and invite reflection on how our attention and perception are shaped. By staging impossible realities, can we open the door to new possibilities? Can we change the story by changing the frame?
Blue is an Agreement was originally created as a vertical parcours through the building of workspacebrussels, staging a series of encounters with the sky in different rooms. During this residency, Vinny will explore how to collapse that vertical journey into a horizontal experience of light moving through the building. This involves investigating how to connect various functions and systems that coexist in the same space but are often compartmentalised or disconnected, operating independently.
Vinny has long been interested in how spaces and systems are not only organised but also organise those who move within them. This research continues that inquiry, exploring how light might serve as a means to communicate and collaborate across parallel systems and spatial experiences.
