IN.here is a long-term project of artistic research and creation, developing an immersive, sensory installation exploring systems of control.
Spaces that we inhabit daily are often designed – physically and sensorially – to attract and expel different types of people and to both prevent and elicit specific behaviours. IN.here takes as its starting point these unacknowledged but long- accepted practices to create spaces in which our sense of control is questioned, interrupted or undermined. Asking audiences to navigate through different systems, in which the rules reveal themselves at different times, or not at all, or change during the journey. Through this physical journey, IN.here explores the shifting position of the individual within the larger systems we live in. How much control can we exercise as individuals? How do we reconcile ourselves when the rules change, or are not revealed to us? How do we continue to use and take responsibility for systems over which we have no control?
