Eimi Leggett
Bio
Eimi Leggett is a Brussels-based Australian–Japanese movement and performance artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans choreography, visual arts, and research. Formally trained at London Contemporary Dance School and P.A.R.T.S., her work centers on themes of hybrid identity, bodily autonomy, and the nuances of existing between cultural contexts.
Grounded in deep movement research, Leggett integrates somatic care and tactile healing practices into her creative process, approaching physical sensation, vulnerability, and body awareness as primary methods of inquiry. She subverts cultural archetypes to investigate how personal history and mixed heritage are embodied and reclaimed through performance. Moving beyond traditional stage environments, she frequently collaborates across disciplines—particularly with architects and visual artists—to examine space, domesticity, and site-specific performance. Alongside her independent choreographic research and project creation, she maintains an active career as a touring dancer across Europe. Her work has received support from the Agency for Cultural Affairs (Government of Japan), the Flemish Arts Decree, and the Grant for Emerging Talents.
