Jitse Huysmans

Jitse Huysmans (1991) is a theatre maker, performer and actress. She is co-founder of Collectief Elan(d), a performers' collective that creates playful performances in which the audience takes the lead role.

SPIJT is Jitse's first solo project. She also works closely with Het Scheldeoffensief. With Frank Dierens, she created the inclusive performances BRUT-a-l'air (2023), a location performance with 25 diverse actors, and Colors (2023, Kopergietery), in which she played the role of ‘orange’.

Jitse combines her experience as a drama therapist and theatre maker in her work for various organisations. Her drama therapy studies influence her artistic vision, which focuses on the healing power of art. In times of polarisation and loneliness, she explores how people can connect with each other.
