Nathalie Rozanes

Bio
Nathalie Rozanes (1986, Zürich) is a performer, actress and author based in Brussels. In 2011, she graduated from INSAS (Brussels). She worked with theatre directors Lucie Guien, Claudia Bosse / Theatercombinat and Sofie Kokaj, and filmmakers Lionel Ravira and Ziad Doueiri. In her personal work, she writes, plays and directs. Her solo piece Francesca, on the life and work of photographer Francesca Woodman, premiered at Théâtre National in Brussels in 2016. Currently she is developing a duet with Elizabeth Ward.
Recurrent themes in Nathalie’s work are intimacy versus public space; the limits between the self and the other; tracing parallels between inner and outer worlds; examining the idea of ‘one’ truth; the private and the big History; fractured, hybrid, discontinued and/or displaced biographies; and time. The body as a vessel and archive for these themes, addressed by using shifts between biographical, documentary and fictional material, creating poetical landscapes and a loose narration, with an interest in technical challenges, the ‘real’, process, composition and language.
