Sibran Sampers (1991, Belgium) is a visual and performance artist. He studied Art Sciences (UGent) and Autonomous Design (KASK Gent) and lives in Antwerp. His installations, objects and performances are characterised by a strong fascination for nature, history and landscape. Recurring elements in his visual art are recycled materials and animal products such as fur and feathers. Fictional ethnical references rise up in the shape of pastiches. In 2014 Sampers created Ex Tripudiis, an update of an archaic, Etruscan method of divination by means of poultry. In 2017 Sampers and Kurt Vandendriessche founded the collective The Body Electric (TBE). They found eachother in the shared love for the colourful hermeneutics of 16th century alchemy and with TBE they try to let the old alchemy make its entrance into the 21st century.
