Bio

Théo Mercier (1984, France) studied at the École nationale supérieure de création industrielle de Paris (ENSCI) and the Universität der Künste de Berlin (UDK). After working with Bernhard Willhelm on his collection of stage dresses for Björk, he moved to New York in 2008 to assist artist Matthew Barney. He then presented various exhibitions and sculptures at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Tri Postal in Lille, the Lieu Unique in Nantes and the Centre Pompidou. Residing at the Villa Medicis in Rome, he wrote his first show and turned his workshop into a real exhibition. In 2014, Théo Mercier is nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize. He then worked on several solo exhibitions in Mexico, Los Angeles and most recently Marseille (The Thrill is gone, 2016). His work also appears in numerous group exhibitions, notably at the Palais de Tokyo, the Moscow Biennal, the Maison rouge, the MACVAL, and in the Gabrielle Maubrie, Vallois, Yvon Lambert, Bugada and Cargnel galleries (Panorama Zéro, February-April 2017). In parallel, Théo Mercier has been developing a performative work for several years. In 2013, he directed his first show, Du futur faisons table rase, presented in Nanterre-Amandiers in December 2014. His latest, Radio Vinci Park, creation was scheduled for 2016 at the Ménagerie de verre and the Festival Actoral in Marseille.
