dull blade, 10.000 cuts
dull blade, 10.000 cuts is a research project rooted in the thirteen fundamental principles of the Wudang sword. It explores how these techniques of internal practice can bring embodied knowledge to the contemporary urgency of becoming a warrior of transformation. The metal blade serves as a conduit and an extension of Mei Bao’s consciousness, intertwining themselves with ancient sword-wielders, but also with their own personal lineage of individuals who have made big cuts in their lives, for others or out of love. How can the sharp blade of the sword mend cuts and broken lineages, both real and imagined?
In times of fragmentation and confusion, how can the body and attention take the shape of the blade? How can this be translated into form, movement, sound, song, light and words? Which figures of the warrior can be visited and inhabited in this territory?
