End Rush

All coming of age is a betrayal. A lonely figure wanders and speaks aloud. Who will save them now that they’ve learned the truth? Should old fantasies be kept alive?

Following the completion of The House (November 2025), Heathcote further develops her attempt at imagining the crumbling middle class and its violent dream. With the current state of fascist takeover and the destruction of the social middlefield emerging around us in Belgium, making art with friends creates a space somewhere between a crazed refuge and willful ignorance.

Drawing on how video games and television use script and rules of play to give shape to a field of possibilities for characters to act, Heathcote expands on the classic idea of the journey. What happens if the house as a place of origin and indoctrination collapses? What happens if its inhabitants discover within themselves a strong will for disavowal?

This research is carried out together with Jana De Kockere, and special guest Ferre Vuye.
