In recent years, architecture has become a key influence in Kinga Jaczewska’s practice, shaping her movement language through various forms and spatial logics. With figures., she aims to investigate circularity, roundness, and the cyclical nature of methods and forms behind selected architectural ideas and designs.

Together with her collaborators, she will study the work of Eileen Gray and Barbara Hepworth and, in line with their design principles, explore the relationship between the functional and the decorative—and what that tension implies for movement language.

Inspired by the idea of approaching dance as a visual language, Jaczewska wants to examine what it means to create choreographic objects—a concept she first encountered while working on Dry Dances, and which she will further develop in this upcoming research project, figures.
