The Governed Subject

The historical significance of (often illegal) raves as a resistance to authorities meets with the potential of the club environment as a ‘safe space’ to collectively experience a total loss of control. Researching the relationship between authority and trauma, this project brings together control and the loss of it, a dark club and an interrogation room, failing governments and the safety of spaces. During the residency Marijn Ottenhof will work towards a new video work in which these traumatic experiences are voiced through the body of a single performer; through movement, sound and light.
