House of Strength
A study of oppressed bodies in search of liberation. What does an oppressed body look like, how does it move? How does it resist and how does this manifest itself?
Fascinated and inspired by an ancient warrior ritual from Iran (Zurkhaneh), Nastaran searches for the combination between dance, (martial) arts and song. In this residency, the focus is on collecting choreographic material, Sufi poems and circle rituals from various martial arts.
