In Le rêve d'Io, Guilloteau explores the transgression of borders, both in the body of the dancers and the perception of the audience, and in the performance space. What is the theatrical illusion comprised of? How can we break out of the confines of the stage? How can we represent a space that is elsewhere? Dance and music come together to create a new spatiality that surprises our expectations and awakens the senses.

For this production, Guilloteau wants to work with untrained dancers, who will be selected through a series of research workshops. Two of his regular dancers, Claire Godsmark and Emmi Väisänen, guard the structure of the piece. An ensemble of five musicians accompany them with a selection of contemporary music. Their focus is the work of the German composer Enno Poppe, which combines a vibrant energy with an almost algorithmical taxonomy – perfect for this creation.

Le rêve d'Io premieres on 29 October 2020 at Concertgebouw Bruges.
