Adieu Molenbeek & Public Sampler
Ernst Maréchal presents two interactive events at De Vaartkapoen as part of "Manchester Plage"
PUBLIC SAMPLER (18:00-20:00)
The Public Sampler lets you experiment with the raw sound material of Adieu Molenbeek in an accessible and playful way. You choose a sample that you want to play and that you can edit by repeating it or adjusting the speed. Then you choose a second sound or voice (you can also record a new sample live) and mix your own little composition. With the Ephemeral Choir Machine you can add a layer or replace a previous recording with a new sound by a simple hand movement, all this in interaction with the people and their sounds around you, whether they are still present or not.
ADIEU MOLENBEEK (20:00-22:00)
Adieu Molenbeek is a soundscape based on field recordings and interviews made in the streets of Molenbeek. It is partly a document of a place in Corona time, but mostly a free composition (as a work in progress) within which environmental sounds and diverse voices search for attunement, entanglement and transformation. A sound bubble somewhere in between field recording, ambient, podcast and sonic journalism.
