Bio

Soa Ratsifandrihana is a choreographer and dancer of French and Malagasy origin. After her studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Soa began her performing career in works by James Thierrée (Tabac Rouge) and SaliaS anou (Du désir d’horizons). She then joined Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker’s Rosas company. She danced in Fase (including the Violin Phase solo), the first time Anne Teresa had passed this solo to a new generation of dancers. The piece was named one of the “Best dances of 2019” in a New York Times article. Soa Ratsifandrihana is renowned for the quality of her performances.

Alongside her work as a performer, Soa develops her own work. In 2016, she collaborated with the musicians Sylvain Darrifourcq and Ronan Courty on the minimalist and nervous writing of Tendimite. Most recently, she choreographed Folia, presented at the Cologne Philharmonic in August 2020. Today, she is based in Brussels where she is involved in the creation of g r oo v e.

At present, Soa is interested in raw movement, music and poetry. Through dance, she wants to achieve a synthesis between spontaneity and rigorous composition, against a background of history that resembles her. In all her work, Soa aims to offer the highest quality to the widest audience.
