During their residency at workspacebrussels, Peter Aers and Obiozo Ukpabi will come together to investigate how we can share stories with each other. This question lays at the core of the research for a new performance called A CURSE POEM, in which three artists, Peter Aers, Femke Gyselinck and Melissa Mabesoone, will intertwine their practices on the border of reflection, participation and performance and engage in a dialogue with historian Obiozo Ukpabi and Aboriginal author Alexis Wright.
In this dialogical art work they will focus on oral storytelling and its creative and potential agency in a reality. On the one hand they will explore what storytelling is (in its creative, dynamic and archiving dimension) and on the other hand they will make a new proposal in which fiction is used as a method to depict the future differently.

N.E.S.H.A.A. (Not Every Ship Has An Author) launches their new interactive platform www.acursepoem.com, where stories, poems and thoughts of different voices are shared. Sources that inspired the creation of A CURSE POEM will be replenished by new stories and thoughts. Thus, a dynamic landscape unfolds one word at a time through which visitors can meander and to which they can add new stories.
At the request of N.E.S.H.A.A. various writers, researchers and artists have shared audio-stories, each starting from their own practice and in relationship to storytelling. How can words shape the future, how does aphasia influence storytelling, to whom do stories actually belong... The audio-stories form a living archive, which will further develop in the course of time. The first audio-story we want to share was made by T.S.ELIOT laureate Bhanu Kapil about her poem "1947. Spell to Reverse a Line". "If the line is a border and a border is a boundary award," she writes while deploying the poem as a spell: "This is a spell to stop the loop. To regain one's wholeness as a human being".

The Danish translation Dronning over verdens magter, meaning "Queen of all (worldly) powers" will be published on november 24th, translated by Sophus Helle and illustrated by Johanne Helga Heiberg.
