and we shimmered as we crossed from one reality to another

This is the initial development of a performance set against the backdrop of a desolate cinematic landscape and the darkness of the theater. In this project, Noha Ramadan aims to explore and stage Glissant’s ‘right to opacity’ through the concept of the ‘shimmer,’ conceived as both a material phenomenon and a figure of subjectivity. It presents subjectivity as emerging from the continuous effort of reorientation in response to (sometimes mysterious) external and internal forces.
