Childhood Room is an ongoing research exploring memory as a lived, embodied space. Rather than reconstructing the past, the project examines how childhood persists within the body as sensation, rhythm, and spatial memory. Objects such as toys, balloons, keys, and a typewriter become performative partners, allowing memory to emerge through interaction, weight, and materiality.

During their residency, Haolin Huang will investigate early experiences where dream, reality, and imagination coexist, mapping objects through their names, age, history, colour, and origin. By collecting and playing with objects abandoned by or exchanged with local children, they explore how personal and collective memories circulate, and intertwine with identity, displacement, and belonging.

The body acts as a home for layered absences, and presences. Haolin aims to create a space where past and present, the intimate and the perceptual coexist in constant negotiation.
