Two pairs of I’s

I have two pairs of eyes.

There is the one that looks inwards - underneath the skin, deep in the muscle, inside your hollow bones. It sees those things for what they are, not what I was taught them to be. I rotate these eyes, and as my eyeballs roll, you roll behind them in this land. Here are my bones scattered in a desert, resting in the sand, waiting for me to collect and re-assemble them.

Where does this part go?

The body is a map we are still learning to read. As alternative to the disciplining and normative relation to anatomy, we imagine forms of embodiment nourished by the complexity of sensations. An inner pair of eyes guide our steps through this landscape of limbs, tissues, organs and liquids. They gain agency and character, narrating this journey from within, bringing us beyond a fixed image of a whole. Their language dissects anatomy, imagination enters the body and stretches its borders. The ‘I’ is blurred, destabilized; the ‘I’ finds itself in its relational anatomy.

Guided by mythical thinking and the writings of Monique Wittig, we navigate through a place where decay, vulnerability and interconnectedness create this re-imagined body.
