LAB: Performance Kit
ArtistsPRINT THIS PAGE
Performance Kit is an ongoing study on the act of performing and on its sociological, philosophical and political implications. why to take part? how to take part? when to take part?
Taking an action is a constant state of negociation between reason, affect, perception, judgement, context, ethics...
Manon Santkin and Leslie Mannès, the funding members of Performance Kit, are using the stage as a problematic frame of indetermination to enhance and re-evaluate notions of engagement, responsability, investment, desire, choice.
FOR A PRACTICE OF (IN)DETERMINATION
Performance Kit is based on a specific dispositif: a prerecorded audio score guiding a performer on stage.
Along our research process, we have developed a system of guidance through questioning.
Questions about the WHY - WHAT - HOW - WHEN to help us uncover micro and macro choreographic choices being made and their underlying implications.
For the second time, we want to propose our research to other practitioners and thinkers of the performative field.
We invite you to join us for a 5 days laboratory. Together we will consider the critical and imaginative mindset of a performer in action and literally question it. By practicing improvised solo performance for each other, we will study our capacity to influence the performer’s mental process by producing a series of questions ranging from analysis to induction. We will develop scores of questions both in order to analyze the performer’s patterns and to influence and motivate his choices.
